Hello all,

Have just finished setting up NZG new items from Toyfair.  Also you will notice that Motorart has a few new items as well as the ones on the homepage from Conrad Models.   Check out the website for details and pics.  Will be posting some pics from my Europe trip later this week - keep checking back... I am in the blogging mood these days!

Also - have you noticed a new voice or email responder when you call or email the office?  That is our newest DHS employee Jon!  Jon comes to us from a varied and sundry retail background and is picking up the diecast construction world details quickly.   Say hello next time you get a chance.

Hello all,

Finally got a few minutes to report from Toyfair.   I have been here since Friday and today was the last day.  Saw lots of posts and lots of comments on the forum and thought I would post here instead.

Was able to speak with Daniel from Baggermodel magazine - and want to give him another plug here as I think this magazine is fantastic!  Everyone should subscribe!  http://baggermodelle.net/

Had dinner with Steven from MCW and that is always a good time.  Unfortunately we did not get to spend as much time together as normal as my time at the show was a bit shorter this year.  Someone should ask Steven about how we made it to the restaurant on Friday night - had to cross a frozen lake! - it is REALLY cold over here.

Visited with friends at NZG, Joal, Conrad, Motorart (yes, they are here), Norscot, Bymo, WSI and ROS.  Saw models presented by Universal Hobbies, Ulma, Siku and many others.  Also got to spend some time with Bruce from Drake Trailers in Australia, Nicholas from TWH and Ryan from DCM.  Had a wonderful lunch in the Joal booth with Brandon and Mary from BRI.  Met Sebastian from Tekno for the first time (we have been emailing each other for years).  Met up with many old friends and made some new ones.  It was altogether a very good show and I am happy I came.

Sorry that Roy could not make it this year - Brandon said it was not the same without him!

Here are my views of what I saw at the show:

- There are a number of new models which all look very nice.  The number of new models released at this show was not overwhelming, but the quality and type of models released is very nice.
- Keep in mind that at each toy show, there is a large construction show looming not to long afterward and many manufacturers typically provide models to companies for the shows.   Intermat is coming this year and I am aware of many new models coming for Bauma as well.   We have also heard there may be a few surprises at MineExpo later this year.
- All manufacturers were telling us the same thing - they are all cautiously optimistic for the future.  OEM companies are getting back to asking for new models as they have taken some time off over the last few years.
- All model companies have new models coming later this year - ALL of them!  Conrad tells me that they are actually booked through 2013!
- There are many rumors floating around the show - and one of them will probably shock the industry relatively soon, if true.  As I do not like to spread these rumors, do not call me to ask.  My lips are sealed.  Just watch the news over the next few months.
- I always have a great time at the show as it is an opportunity to meet with and discuss the industry with many people who are tied into the business very tightly.  Some have strong opinions and some do not - but overall, the feeling here is positive.
- I will not list the new models presented at the show as other people and websites have done so already.  Steven from Miniature Construction World is a great resource for this information.  And of course you will see the models posted on our site as soon as we get an opportunity to list them.

You will see the new models presented at the show listed on the DHS website for pre-orders in the next week or so.  I encourage you to continue to support your favorite diecast company and order from us when the models are presented.

By the way - nobody mentioned how really COLD it is over here right now!

Thanks for checking out the blog.  I will post here later this week.

Thanks!

Chuck

New Years Resolution

Hello all,

As many times happens, New Years Resolutions take a back seat when we get back to life.  Sorry about not posting for awhile here - you will see some new posts a couple times a week from now on....

Current status of models everyone is waiting for have been posted in the forum but if you missed it, CCM has announced the following to us dealers...

992C:
Both versions of the models are scheduled to sail January 14th. We should begin shipping from here the week of February 13th barring any issues with Customs.

385/390:
Expected delivery early March 2012

D9H/DD9H/SxS D9H:
DD9H partial shipment expected early March 2012

Also - we have been receiving small shipments of P&H XPC Models from TWH.  We are moving slowly through our list of customers in the order that the models were ordered from us.  Please believe we are working as hard as we can to get the models to you!   This one was a long time coming.

Looking forward for DHS, we are heading to the World of Concrete Show in Las Vegas Jan 24-27th, 2012.  We will have a booth in the North Hall - NL08 if you want to look us up at the show website for the show: World of Concrete Website

I will also be heading to Germany for Toyfair upon returning from the WOC show.  As many of you know, this is an annual trek to Nurnberg for the world's largest toy show.  The show is open to dealers only and is really gigantic.  I will post some photos from the show while there or upon my return.   Hiding out in the back of Hall 7 is Conrad Models, NZG Models, Bymo, Norscot, Motorart, YCC Models, WSI Models and a few distributors for other models we carry.  ROS Models and Siku are also there in different halls.  This is an opportunity for me to visit with the manufactures and see the new items that will be coming out for 2012.

Upon returning from the show, I will be working on our new catalog and pricing for the year.  There have been many changes in China in the past year and we are expecting price increases from all manufacturers who make their models there.   Also, the cost of materials has risen dramatically as zinc is tied to petroleum prices.

But hopefully I will get to see some new releases that will be exciting for you guys.  Looking forward to the trip!

All for now - got to get to work!

Where has Chuck been?

Well - no excuses - have not written anything in awhile.  We were very busy during the Christmas Season of course and had no time to tell you what was up.   Do plan to pre-announce a new year's resolution that I will be a better blogger next year.  DHS has lots of plans and lots of surprises - and we plan to help move this great hobby along to even better things.

I really hope our customers and friends have a safe and wonderful holiday season.  Maybe put away some of the petty stuff and really step back and enjoy the holidays.  I know that is my plan.  This was a tough year for a lot of people.  We get to hear some stories in the position we are in and it makes me understand just how lucky I am.

Off now to wrap presents - have a very Merry Christmas!

I will be talking again soon!
