Hello all! Conexpo has opened today to huge crowds! It seems like every contractor in the world is here! There appears to be a very large crowd as we walked through the halls and outside.
Our booth was busy from morning until after the close of the show. Went from morning until night just like the photo posted below. We could not even leave the booth - it was crazy!
The people kept coming and coming. We have 9 booth workers including the guys from Mammoet and we still had trouble keeping up with the interested people. I am not sure we will see the rest of the show while we are here! I think this is a good problem to have.
Met up with some old friends at the show. Had dinner with Eric Orleman, Anton Hanreider (from ByMo Models) and some friends tonight at P.F. Changs in the new Planet Hollywood. Brian entertained us with tales from the Syncrude mine in the Tar Sands and Eric regaled us with stories about equipment and some of his experiences too. We hear that Keith Haddock will be in town with some other friends tomorrow. Hope to run into them.
The P&H 4100XPC Model did appear today on our stand. This model is lighted and looks fantastic up close. I know that the wait will be worth it on this model - it will be a sellout for sure! The first 50 models are coming in next month - so they are starting to ship.
Checked out the HCEA booth which had a sample of the Otis Shovel. This is the world's first excavator and is the symbol for the Historical Construction Equipment Association. The model was fully assembled in the USA and all of the woodwork was done here! This model is even more impressive than I thought it would be. I am impressed with the detail on the model. Only a small number will be made and I recommend this model as a great collectible.
Also showing up today is the Komatsu PC8000 model from ByMo. This model is being produced in Bosnia - and it looks great! We can still take orders for this model the Anton tells me it will be delivered in September or October 2011!
Got to get some sleep - my feet hurt already and we have only made it through one day - more show details tomorrow!
