Summer Open House and Truck Shows

Hello all,

Haven't posted in awhile and was feeling guilty.  It's been raining here in Cleveland and hard to get excited about summer.  But I will tell you the plans are going on full swing for Open House coming at the end of this month.  Hard to believe it is already time for the event.  It always creeps up on me.

I have heard that some of our regular customers are coming out for the show - hope everyone can make it this year.  If you talk to anyone who has ever stopped in for this event, I think you will find that it is worth the time to get here.  The event is so much more of a social occasion than a trade show, that everyone seems to have fun.  I know I enjoy seeing and talking to old friends and making some new ones every year.  So, if you are on the fence about coming, make the decision and book your flight or gas up the car!  You will not regret it.

Tonkin has let me in on a few secrets and I can tell you it is pretty exciting.  There were some naysayers who complained that Tonkin was only bringing out wheel loaders and "where is all the other stuff"?  Well, come to the show and you will see some new items that are NOT wheel loaders!   There is an aggressive plan to bring a large number of very nice models to the market and we are excited to be the distributor for the USA!

I was lucky enough to attend a local truck show a few weeks back and here are some photos from that show.  All photos are compliments of John Shephard who remembered to bring his camera as I left mine on the kitchen counter!

Enjoy these - see you at the end of the month!

Top 10 Reasons to Attend the Summer Open House

Hello all...  also posted this in the forum...

Here are the Top 10 reasons to attend Open House this year... July 27-28, 2013.

10. Visit with the handsome Tonkin representative Luc Lebel, who will be here to:

     a) Show off the newest sample shots of the Tonkin Caterpillar models in public for the first time. You will be able to see them live and in-person FIRST!

     b) Announce some amazing new items from Tonkin's Caterpillar series of models (some of which will be delivered before Christmas and you can pre-order at the show!)

     c) Listen to your comments and suggestions about the Tonkin Program (sorry Luc!).

9. Marvel at a fantastic 1/8 scale Manitowoc 4100 Crawler Crane made from steel that is Radio Controlled (and meet the crazy brothers who made it). You heard me right, 1/8 SCALE!

8. Visit with other people who collect scale construction and truck models, just like you. Talk about your collection to your heart's content!

7. Prove to your "significant other" that there are lots of people out here with your obsession. And feel better about yourself...

6. Participate in raffles, giveaways and door prizes to get FREE STUFF!

5. Climb onto cranes, trucks, cars, military vehicles, fire and rescue vehicles and whatever else happens to be parked in the lot behind DHS that day.

4. Come Saturday and enjoy the 300+ piece auction in air conditioned comfort.

3. Check out some of the best model and diorama builders in the business!

2. Take advantage of the heat stroke generally affecting the DHS Staff and purchase models for low, low prices (Wait until you see the Open House Special Sale!).

And the number one reason...

1. Eat gourmet hot dogs for FREE!

Here are some pics from previous years...

Don't miss it !
