Where have I been?
Hello all,
Where have I been? Well, I have been traveling a bit. Last week I was in Denver Colorado packing up one or the world's largest collections. DHS has negotiated a deal to sell the Kevin Anderson Collection! This is actually the second collection that has been accumulated by Kevin over the last few years. If you remember a few years back, DHS sold Kevin's first collection when it was purchased by Steve Wolken. There was an article in the Toy Trucker magazine all about the first collection.
Since the first collection was sold, Kevin decided to get back into collecting with a vengeance! This second collection is actually larger and more valuable than the first one. Kevin has managed to acquire some fantastic models and this entire collection, except for some rigged cranes is coming to Cleveland Ohio and will be sold by DHS to our customers!
Take a look at some of the pics from the collection !
Talk to you again soon! I promise to blog more often!

Visit the DHS Open House this year!
Hi everyone. I apologize for being a little behind in my posts. I will endeavor to get back on track and tell you more about what is going on around here. I just wanted tonight to tell you a bit about our annual Open House event. DHS puts on this event once a year for our customers.
This is a free event and is fun for the whole family. I suggest you try it out this year and stop in for the weekend. We love to see our customers and actually meet and talk with each of you!
Below are some photos from last year's show to give you a feel about what the show is all about. As far as the schedule goes, here are the details.
Friday afternoon - We have a great time scheduled for the DHS Preferred Members on Friday afternoon. This is a preview opportunity for the preferred members. They will get first chance to see the Open House models and the DHS Auction models as well. We will have food and drink for all of the DHS Preferred Members so they can really enjoy their evening in advance of the show.
Saturday - The annual auction is set for Saturday with a preview in the morning. The auction will have at least 300 pieces of amazing models up for auction. All items will be sold on this date. The auction will be held at our warehouse as it has for a few years now. We are processing the items and will have a list up before the end of the month of May.
Sunday - This is the date for the actual annual Open House event. On this special day, we have these different events scheduled:
- Open House - DHS opens over 2000 scale models and lays they out by manufacturer. Each model is available for up close review and for purchase. We know that seeing models on the internet is not the best way to check out a model and we offer this option for everyone to see the models up close.
- Model Show - All customers are invited to take a table and show off their special models and/or dioramas. We normally have 15-20 different tables with customers of all ages showing off what they have built or what they have obtained.
- Equipment - DHS has many local partners who work with us to show off their real equipment. All Crane, Fabrizi Construction, Elliott Fuel and Lube, East Dump Trailers, Peterbilt, Mack, Volvo, Komatsu and other companies have all provided equipment to park behind our warehouse for our customers to see, touch and feel up close.
- World Famous Gourmet Hot Dogs - Of course, we always have the FREE world famous gourmet hot dogs professionally prepared by my brother-in-law and my father! This, in my opinion, is one of the best parts of the day! Just ask those who have been to the show - the hot dogs are stupendous!
- Charitable contribution - DHS always chooses a charity to donate proceeds from various events held during the Open House weekend, including the table fees from the model show. The past few years we have chosen the Berea Children's Home and we will continue our donation this year to the BCH. This organization is a fantastic well-run non-profit organization who works with all kinds of kids and families all over northeast Ohio.
- Surprise Events - We always keep a few things under wraps and surprise everyone at the show. So you have to come and see for yourself!
Thanks for listening - be back soon!
